I accepted GTM's job offer. I will be their inventory analyst/guru.
The hourly wage difference was only $0.38.
GTM offered me 16 days vacation/year along with 6 paid holidays (6 more vacation days than WM).
The biggest reasons I took GTM's job:
1. GTM offers quite the entrepreneurial opportunity. They are growing 25-40% (40% projected this year) consistently and are trying to become a dominant player nationally. This seems like a very good time to get in on it. Maybe we will strike it big or maybe we will fail, but that is a chance I am excited to take. I will get to do the analysis and help set up our first distribution center (DC) in China. That may involve traveling to China in the next 1-3 years.
2. The relationships I have in Manhattan (and the rest of KS) are a big deal to me. These relationships would be forever changed if I moved to AR. Can one put a price on relationships? With the knowledge that God has provided me through the environment I grew up in, I must not.
Thus I will be living in Manhattan for awhile. I plan to move back home for an undetermined amount of time so that I can save up some money to buy a house (Throwing $$$ away on rent drives me nuts!).
There were other factors in my decision, but they were small in comparison to this. I believe that this is the decision Christ led me to even though it has been unpopular with many of my profs and friends.
Well, it is time I started practicing (and finished writing) and memorizing my graduation speech! Because, yes, I was selected to be the student commencement speaker. Still not sure if that means I am the valedictorian? They don't give that title to anyone at K-State. Maybe that is only a high school deal?
This will be a much bigger graduation than just graduating as a homeschooler. It should be fun. I love giving speeches. You get to entertain, you have control, you get to read the audience and adapt to them - it is sweet.
Ttfn.
